It was really warm out. When we got up to the ring she was a little speedy but besides that she was good. We walked around for 10-15mins to get warmed up. We worked on our halts which she is fabulous at =). So my mom finally came up and since I knew she would do something silly at the trot I asked her to film. We trotted about half of a 20meter circle and then Opal decided to buck. The buck was slightly weird but after she landed and went to take a step she fell and slid on her knees. I think her knees just buckled cause she forgot that she had a person on her =). So right after I got her back up I slid off and checked her over. She was fine her knees were just really muddy as well as her nose. So I hand jogged her then hopped back on and trotted like 5 steps in each direction and called it a day. I put the video on youtube. Follow the link to watch it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riPRxqm4R60

Friday:
So I got on again. She was awesome at the walk. But the second I indicated that I might want to trot she started being silly. She did buck multiple times. I did get her to do a little trot step in each direction and then called it quits. Right before I took her down I had her do a couple turn on the forhands. She did really well.

Saturday:
She was pretty good at the walk then we went to trot. She decided to buck everytime I touched my heel to her side =(. I knew I wouldn't come off but it's still annoying. It's like she's throwing a half-hearted tantrum. She's like "I don't want to, I don't want to, I don't want to! Ok ok I will. Wait I don't want to. Oh alright I will." Then I had her do a turn on the forhand in each direction. So far I'm the first person at the barn to ride this year. Which is fun. Hopefully I'll ride tomorrow if the weather is ok. Follow the link to see a video of me and Opal from Friday and Saturday.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjC7YB3ZJZk

Where I Began... and this years goals.

I began riding at the age of 6 at a rescue barn [Little Brook Farm]. I haven't left there. Currently I'm 16 and will continue riding at Little Brook until I decide to go further in a professional career. I plan to do a working student program with someone in the Eventing field; David O'Connor, Eric Horgan, ect. I did my first Starter Beginner Novice Event in 2008. I rode Opal, a cute little 14.1hh grey Arabian[14 yrs old] who I currently have a full lease on. I have taken some clinics with Eric Horgan [3-4ish]. This year I was to focas on getting my jumping position more defined and securing my leg. As well as working on Opal's lateral work and bending. Not very many competitions this year. Most likely I will do some smaller schooling shows just to get Opal some mileage. Opal has long pasterns so I can't jump her higher then 2'6" without risking injury to her. I will mainly focus on getting her more rythmic before, between, and after jumps at smaller heights. If I decide I want to jump higher I will take lessons on some of the barn horses that can jump higher.
